Cover of the Day: Shogun Warriors 19!

Have I written anything about the Shogun Warriors before? It was a toy line Mattel brought to the US from Japan, which Marvel Comics later licensed. As they tended to do with all toy lines they licensed into comics form, the Shoguns were plugged into the Marvel Universe... which could play havoc when doing flashbacks to stuff or characters from them that were created by Marvel, especially after the license expired!

I had one of the large Shogun Warrior toys, "Mazinga." This was around 1978 and I brought him to show and tell, pushing the big old thing on its wheels all the way to school. It was a big hit, as I fired the rockets from his hand across the room. Never did buy the comic book, though.

The comic was a pretty fun read, I believe Herb Trimpe did the art on the entire run.
